Binding the edge of a carpet involves wrapping a strip of fabric which is generally made from either polyester or cotton around the edge of the carpet and stitching it in place. This will hold the edge down in the offending area making it more difficult to pull up and fray again. If that doesn t stretch the fibers back into place use double sided carpet tape to fix a 12 inch cork backed ruler to the carpet s backside along each edge leading up to the offending corner. This is done by a carpet binding machine.

It s a good idea to glue seams down again as quickly as possible so that they do not fray. Trying to push any carpet back onto the tack strip. Take the hammer end of a hammer cleaned and push it down on the carpet and push towards the wall. Push down on the carpet w you finger tips.

When a wall to wall carpet is installed it must be stretched tightly and then is secured in place with tack strips along the edges of the carpet. Pull the carpet taut and press down over the adhesive. Starting from one side of the loose section use the knee kick tool to ease the carpet edge over the tack strip pushing the carpet down onto the tack strip with your hands as you move from one. If the installer has not stretched the carpet tightly enough it may loosen slightly which could cause it to ripple.

But carpet tile has a few common problems including tiles coming up from the subfloor after installation. If your wall to wall carpeting is not properly installed you may find that the seams between sections of carpet will start coming apart a problem that occurs when the seams are not glued down properly or the seam is located in a high traffic area. When possible all edges of the hole should have a radius to help promote flow throat and ends with the material coming out of the mold nozzles. Set the plug tightly against one side of the hole.

Use several techniques to prevent or repair this problem both during and after installation. Then lower the other edges into place holding back the surrounding fibers.
